Green Horizons Leadership and Fieldcraft Clubs

KKL-JNF Green Horizons Leadership and Fieldcraft Clubs offer a year-round weekly framework for youth in grades 4 to 12. The program integrates diverse educational content with deep values through experiential, hands-on learning. Throughout the year, participants embark on monthly 2-day trips, alongside multi-day expeditions (3 to 5 days) during school breaks.
Activities are led by youth guides (Madatzim), Service Year volunteers (Shin-Shinim / Shnat Sherut), and adult district leaders (Madabim), all of whom undergo professional training and ongoing mentorship.

Our programs strengthen participants' connection to the land, their community, and the heritage of Israel. By cultivating personal responsibility, self-reliance, leadership, and active citizenship, we combine challenging outdoor skills—backpacking, field navigation, campfire cooking, and outdoor camping—with community volunteering and environmental stewardship of local nature and heritage sites.

In 10th Grade (Shnat Yud), participants in the clubs undergo a year focused on leadership development, initiative, and leadership training. Throughout the year, they gain hands-on experience in group leadership, taking initiative, and stepping into responsibility—building self-confidence while sharpening key leadership skills.
The year culminates in the Youth Leaders Course (Kors Madatzim), open to participants who pass the selection process. Upon completion, these young youth leaders step up to lead their own groups the following year.
The knowledge and experience they have gained throughout their years in Green Horizons ripen into action, empowering them to give back to others and serve as true role models.

Furthermore, we view our participants as change agents who bring the values of fieldcraft, love of the land, and environmental stewardship home to their families, communities, and surrounding neighborhoods.
KKL-JNF Green Horizons Clubs engage in diverse community initiatives within the towns and cities where they operate. These include leading free guided community hikes, restoring and maintaining local nature sites, coordinating green-themed municipal events (such as Tu BiShvat celebrations), and organizing beach and nature cleanups.
Graduates of Green Horizons emerge as leaders driven by goodwill, Zionism, and a deep respect for both the land and humanity—paving the way toward a stronger, more inclusive Israeli society.

Our alumni are leaders of goodwill, Zionism, and love for people, paving the way for a better and more accepting Israeli society.
