Program Overview: Natural Space (Merhav Tive'i)
The Natural Space program is an innovative educational initiative by Green Horizons that moves learning beyond the four walls of the classroom and into the open air. As part of the program, students participate in a weekly activity or field tour that combines hands-on learning of fieldcraft skills with a direct connection to the environment
Key Program Benefits
Weekly experiences in nature encourage children to develop natural curiosity and strengthen their connection to the local landscape and the Land of Israel. Beyond the academic aspect, spending time outdoors builds independence and teamwork among classmates.
The program emphasizes sustainability and environmental protection, fosters emotional resilience and self-efficacy, and equips students with practical tools for life.
Today, the program operates in a wide variety of schools across the country. It creates an educational continuum from elementary schools through junior highs and high schools, with hundreds of students who have already discovered the largest classroom in the world.
Rainwater Harvesting Project: When Children Become Water Ambassadors
What happens when you empower children to make a real difference? They become change-makers in their community.
The Green Horizons Rainwater Harvesting Project is much more than just another water tank in the schoolyard. It is a practical, educational initiative that teaches elementary school students about the critical importance of water for the environment and for life—all while experiencing firsthand how they can make a real impact
Children learn how to collect, conserve, and manage a valuable resource. They understand that every drop counts, and even more importantly, they become educators for the next generation. These young leaders explain to their parents, neighbors, and friends how they too can save water. This is environmental education that extends beyond the classroom walls and reaches straight into the community
And the results? Tens o thousands of liters of water are saved in each school every year. The water is recycled for toilets, gardening, and non-drinking needs. But more than the liters saved, we are growing a generation that understands that anyone can be part of the solution to Israel's water crisis.
At Green Horizons, we believe that environmental education should be practical, meaningful, and inspiring. There is no age too young to become a guardian of our most precious resource—our water. Together, drop by drop, we are building a sustainable future
